Come here.考瑞！快过来。Every owner will spend an average of 20,000 pounds on their beloved dog in its lifetime.每位狗主人在它们挚爱的狗狗身上平均花费2万英镑。average在这个句子里是名词“平均水平”，beloved在句子里是形容词“钟爱的”。读英语的句子读的丰富了，遇到陌生的单词是可以猜出来是什么意思的，就像刚才的这两个单词我其实是猜测出来是什么意思了，但是为了严谨，我还是查阅了词典。单词的词性放在句子里就可以判断是名词还是形容词。Boy Sit. We treat them as if they are fellow human beings.好孩子坐下。我们把它们当作我们的伙伴来对待。treat是动词“对待、看待”， fellow在这里是“同类的、同伴的”，我认为是形容词的词性，不一定是对的。With all the thoughts, feelings and emotions of a family member.感觉就如同它们是我们家庭的一员。emotions的中文意思是“情感、情绪”Good girl. It's an incredibly close relationship.好孩子，这是种惊人的亲密关系。incredibly的中文意思是“难以置信地，非常地”，是副词。We share our lives, our homes, even our beds with them.我们与它分享生活，房间，甚至我们的床。We're very close. We're best friends.我们非常要好，我们是好朋友。Pippin sleeps with us.笨笨，与我们同睡。前面的这几个句子都是常用的单词，没有啥陌生的英语单词。He loves being in the bed with his head on the pillow.他喜欢把头靠在床上的枕头上。pillow是名词，中文意思是“枕头”。He just seems to fit in with your lifestyle.他看上去非常适应你的生活习惯，lifestyle的中文意思是“生活方式”，这是两个单词组成一个新的单词。She's there with my slippers first thing in the morning.她一大早就待在我的拖鞋旁边。slippers是名词“拖鞋”，这是一个复数形式。She's part of the family, she is the family.她是家庭的一部分，她就是我的亲人。For decades, science has dismissed dogs as being unworthy of legitimate study.数十年来，科学界都认为狗狗是没有价值的科学研究对象。decades是复数形式，中文意思是“数十年”，science是“科学”，dismissed在这里的意思应该是“摒弃”，legitimate是个陌生的英语单词，中文意思是“合理的”。But all that has changed.但现在这些观点改变了。Scientists are now attempting to understand dogs like never before.科学家从未像如今一样热衷于了解狗狗。attempting的中文意思是“尝试、试图”。How deep is the bond between us?我们之间的关系究竟有多深？bond的中文意思是“纽带、联系”。Where did this relationship come from?这种关系究竟从何而来？And ultimately, why is it dogs that are man's best friend?最后为什么狗是人类最好的朋友？ultimately的中文意思是“最终、最后”。Dogs are all over the world, they're everywhere.狗狗遍布全世界的每一个角落。Anywhere you find humans,you will almost certainly find dogs.任何只要有人的地方，几乎都有狗的存在。We're now beginning to realise that we can answer certain questions in dogs that we can't really answer in any other species.通过狗狗我们可以完成一些，在其他生物身上不能研究的课题。realise的中文意思是“认识到、明白”，certain的中文意思是“必然的、确定的”， species的中文意思是“种类”。There's been this explosion in dog research, I think,这才是狗类研究的最大发现，我觉得explosion的中文意思是“爆发、激增”。because they are specially tuned into humans and this makes dogs extremely interesting as a model.因为它们已经完全融入了人类生活，而这让我们对把狗狗作为研究对象充满兴趣。extremely是个副词“极度、非常”。这一篇课文从头到尾的过了一遍，里面有些陌生的英语单词，但是都不是不常见的单词。学英语还是做事情，只要持续地在一条路上走，不问收获但是自然会有收获。
